The information appearing below has been written by a Factory Certified Glock(tm) Armorer.

Lately, there have been several shooters with Glock(tm) pistols coming to the range with Ultramax(tm) brand lead bullet reloads.

Folks, DON'T use lead bullet reloads in a Glock pistol with the factory barrel!!! The polygonal 'rifling' in the factory Glock barrels will lead up and cause dramatic pressure increases.  While it may not happen the first 50 rounds, believe me, it WILL happen.

Do yourself and your Glock(tm) a favor; either get an after- market barrel with cut rifling, or buy Full Metal Jacketed (FMJ) ammo.

And, while we're on the subject of ammo, stay away from "American" or "A-MERC" headstamped ammo.  We have had several incidents of primers falling out of the primer pocket, not to mention, it is very poor quality ammunition.

There was one incident in August, 2006 with .40 S&W American ammo that did not have the flash hole drilled, but the primer was seated anyway.  When the firing pin hit the primer, it had no where to expend its energy, so the primer backed out of the primer pocket and locked up the Glock(tm) pistol.

It took 3 men, a hammer and punch to make the gun operable again.

Here's the short version of this sermon - buy quality ammo!!

Had a relatively minor incident of someone loading a 16ga shotshell into a 12ga shotgun - twice!  While it was only embarrassing, this reinforces the need to make sure YOU purchase the proper ammunition for your firearm.

Don't count on the clerk at the Mega-Mart to give you the correct ammo, either.  Make sure you double check it before paying for it.  There was one shooter who got .357 SIG ammo for her .357 Magnum revolver accidently.  No way it would fit or fire, but she couldn't shoot at that time.
