GENERAL INFORMATION

We have a maximum range of 50 yards. 

Shotguns with slugs, buckshot & birdshot are welcome.

LOADED FIREARMS ARE NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON RANGE EXCEPT ON THE FIRING LINE. 

This means NO loaded firearms, regardless of carry method. 

Unload & clear your firearm at your vehicle or utilize the clearing barrel by the entrance to the IMPD building, lock the slide back and remove the magazine before entering the range area.

FIREARMS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT ANY OTHER INDY PARKS PROPERTIES (i.e. Eagle Creek Park itself).

YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN EYE & EAR  PROTECTION.

  • No public access without an Indy Parks Range Officer present.
  • Anyone on the range at other than the above posted times is subject to arrest for trespassing.
  • Range Officers will operate the range in a manner that promotes safety first.  Obey all instructions.
  • Spectators are allowed on the firing line.  They are required to sign an indemnity form, and must remain where assigned by Range Officers.
  • Handguns, shotguns and rimfire rifles are allowed.
  • Handguns from .25 ACP up to and including .500 S&W Magnum are allowed. 
  • .30 Carbine, .45/70, etc caliber handguns ARE NOT allowed. 
  • "Cowboy" rifles and carbines in traditional handgun calibers are allowed, as are Beretta Storm and similar semi-autos.
  • .22LR & .22 Magnum and .17 HMR & Mach 2 rifles/carbines are allowed. 
  • Only target/field tipped arrows are permitted.  No broadheads.
  • No black powder permitted.  Pyrodex or 777 is permitted.
  • No fully automatic/select fire firearms are permitted, even if set on single  shot.
  • Anyone under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian.


Weather Advisory - Severe Weather Conditions, heavy rain, lightning, or extreme cold weather are not conducive to the safe operation of the range.  We may, at our discretion, temporarily suspend or close for the day.  If in doubt, call ahead - 327-7296.

Ten Rules of Firearms Safety

  1. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Treat every firearm as though it were loaded.  Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. 
  3. Always make sure the firearm is unloaded and keep the action open except when actually hunting or preparing to shoot.
  4. Be sure the barrel and action are clear of obstruction and that you have the proper ammunition for the firearm you are carrying.
  5. Be sure of your target before you pull the trigger.
  6. Never point a firearm at anything you do not want to shoot. Avoid all horseplay with any firearm.
  7. Never climb a fence, tree, or jump a ditch with a loaded firearm.
  8. Never shoot at a flat hard surface or water.
  9. Store firearms and ammunition separately.
  10. Avoid alcohol and other drugs before or during shooting.
